Top University for Veterans

Grantham University, an online university dedicated to providing educational opportunities to working adults, has been named a top university for veterans by Military Times EDGE.
In the midst of a competitive field of 650 higher learning institutions, Grantham University ranked among the top twenty online educational institutions for veterans. Learning institutions were evaluated on their performance against twelve criteria, which included presence of a veteran's office and veteran-specific staff and academic support.
"It is an honor to be recognized by Military Times EDGE for our work with veterans and to be associated with such a fine group of colleges and universities as a 'Best for Vets' program," said Dr. Jeffrey Cropsey, Grantham's vice president for strategic initiatives. "We have worked hard to meet the educational needs of our nation's veterans, service members and their families for more than six decades. Our commitment to the future success of our nation's finest is one of our greatest strengths."
Grantham University received 3.5 out of 4 stars for its high quality veterans staff. Students receive one-on-one support in the form of a student advisor who is there to answer questions and provide motivation and encouragement. Its Veterans Services department provides guidance related to VA education benefits. Faculty is trained in military culture, adult learning strategies and online best practices.

Top 5 Fastest Growing Online Universities

According to a report by World Wide Academics, a global education portal, Woodbridge University is rated as the 3rd fastest growing online institute. The ranking is based on factors of academic experience, learning management system, affordability, quality and flexibility of education. The report further reveals that in the academic year of 2011-2012, Woodbridge University was chosen by nearly 18,000 students over other education providers based on its world-class faculty, quality course material, innovative learning system and affordability. Due to these factors, the university’s rating increased by 38%.
“Woodbridge University is recognized for its academic excellence and this report truly reflects that. Our faculty and administrative team works diligently towards providing superior education that is affordable and doesn’t impact the work-life balance of our students,” said Jacob Bryant, head of Student Relations. “We have been building international alliances with multinational corporations and international universities, which have been instrumental in our success. We also ensure that there is no financial burden on our students. For this sole purpose, we have a five member exclusive committee which is dedicated to monitoring and devising fee payment options, installment plans, as well as scholarships that are available to students every year. This is the primary reason that Woodbridge University is the foremost choice to acquire online education of students globally,” he added.

Free online courses lunched by top UK Universities

Eleven top UK universities are joining the Open University to launch free internet courses, in a bid to catch up with the elite US institutions that have led the way online.
King's College London, along with the Universities of Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Anglia, Exeter, Lancaster, Leeds, Southampton, St Andrews and Warwick have partnered with FutureLearn, a company set up by the Open University that will offer free, non-credit bearing courses to internet-users around the world.
The courses are modelled on the US phenomenon 'massive open online courses' (Moocs), which have attracted millions of users across the globe, and are especially popular in emerging economies – a key market place for UK universities.
FutureLearn will promote UK institutions to international students, said Prof Martin Bean, vice-chancellor of the Open University.
